THE AINSLEY HAMILL TRIO
(featuring Sam Kelly and Toby Shaer)

Ainsley Hamill is an acclaimed Scottish Folk singer.
Her latest album "Fable" was shortlisted for Album Of The Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards 2025
and her previous album
"Not Just Ship, Land" was named as The Guardian's Album Of The Month in 2021.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
With a voice that has been compared to a cross between Heather Small (M People) and Julie Fowlis (top Scottish singer), Ainsley's voice is stunning and varied in equal measure. She is a distinctive and versatile singer, known for her remarkable voice, storytelling and emotive style.
Her latest album "Fable" draws inspiration from Scottish folklore and myth. It weaves Gaelic, Scots and original compositions together with rich instrumentation. It was recorded in Glasgow and explores Scotland's legends and landscapes, with each track carrying ancient stories into a contemporary setting.
We look forward to Ainsle showcasing songs from this album at Grayshott.
Ainsley was a BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musivcian of the Year Finalist, a Gaelic Singer of the Year Nominee at the MG Alba Scots Trad Awards and has represented Scotland atthe World Expo in Dubai, World Expo in Osaka and at Eurovision in Gothenburg. These are remakable achievements, given the stiff competition in her native country.
Listen to "Machir Bay" here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCDPxFMkwAg&t=4s
She previously played and sang with Barluath.
Ainsley will be accompanied by Sam Kelly and Toby Shaer, both of whom have visited us before; Sam with Jamie Francis and Toby with Honey & The Bear and Heidi Talbot.
Sam is a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He also produced Ainsley's album "Fable".
As well as being a fellow member of Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys, Toby tours with Cara Dillon and later this year, both Sam and Toby will tour as part of John McCusker's Trio.
